Formerly the First Baptist Church of Bushwick, the Greene Avenue Baptist Church was established on April 15, 1854. The church moved three times in its 96 years of existence. The first place of worship was on Bushwick Avenue in a private home. From 1884 to 1888, Warner's Hall was used for church functions and gatherings. Trinity Baptist Church was established in 1875. During the church's first two years, congregants met at Ridgewood Hall on Broadway in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn. In 1877, Trinity's chapel opened, located on Greene Avenue between Patchen Avenue and Broadway in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Willoughby Avenue Baptist Church, once known as the First Baptist Church of Bushwick, was organized in 1854. The church went through several location sites and name changes before it solidified in 1878 on Willoughby Avenue near Broadway in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn.
